Self-care is important during these tough times to help reduce anxiety, keep our spirits & moods lifted and to keep a sense of normality. What better way to start than with your hair!

 

Keep your hair healthy during lockdown

It’s probably the perfect time to repair and revive your hair with your homemade DIYs. Let’s have a look at some of the useful tips that will not only help to make your healthy but also look fabulous.

 

1. Oiling Is Must

    Apply your favourite oil to your hair before you wash it. You can do it before 2 hours, to do a shampoo and conditioner. The benefits of oiling hair are prescribed as a solution for everything from lifeless tresses, damaged ends to stress relief. You can pick your favourite oil it might be coconut oil, almond oil, amla oil Or other variety of oils which is easily available at home.

    Or you can try some the below homemade DIY tip:

    To hydrate hair naturally, heat 1 to 2 tablespoons of coconut or olive oil and comb it through your dry hair. Then, cover your hair with a plastic shower cap and wait 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing it out. End the treatment by washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner.

     

    2. Stick to your Normal Routine

      Just because you are not going out on a regular basis, doesn’t mean you have to neglect your hair. Try to wash your hair on your usual wash day and moisturise it regularly. Wash your hair after 2-3 days. Normal routinely like: oiling, shampoo & conditioning. You can also try homemade shampoo & conditioner once a week-

      Shampoo ingredients – You will need 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1cup of water. Mix it together & repurposed shampoo bottle.

      How to use – Simply shake the bottle before each use and squirt directly onto scalp and hair. Gently massage into the scalp hair for a minute and rinse well.

      Lemon & Aloe Vera Conditioner – Take one tablespoon lemon juice and at least four tablespoons of aloe vera gel in a bowl and mix them well. Apply it on your shampooed hair and wait for five minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

       

      3. Boost The Shine Factor

        Sure, you could use shine sprays, but they’re like fake, they change things, but they don’t always look so natural. So, you can add natural shine to your hair follow some following tips at home like you can try DIY shine mask for hair-

         

        Dry Hair: Olive Oil and Banana

        Combine 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil with 2 bananas and apply the mixture to your hair and let the mixture sit for 20-30 minutes before rinsing in the shower.

         

        Oily Hair: Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon

        Combine 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with the grated peel of an entire lemon and allow it to set for 15 minutes to absorb the excess oil from your scalp and then rinse in the shower.

         

        4. Trim your Dry or Split Ends

          The easiest, quickest and most convenient way of getting rid of split ends is by trimming them off. You can easily trim off split ends yourself in the comfort of your home! All you need is a hair cutting scissor! There are 2 different methods that you can try out to get rid of split ends. Let’s look at each of them step by step-

          • Hair Twisting Method –

          Start off with dry hair. Pick up a 1-inch section of hair and tightly twist it in a clockwise manner from the roots to tips. Starting from the top of the section and working your way down, trim off these split ends that are sticking out. Repeat this process throughout all your hair.

          • Trimming The Ends -

          Start off with damp hair. Pick up a section of hair. Place this section of hair between your fingers right at the roots. Slide your fingers down until you’re an inch away from the ends. Hold the section this way out in front of you. Trim off the ends of all your hair following this same procedure.

           

          5. Avoid to use Dryer

            Yes, hair dryer is a convenient tool to dry out your hair. But if you are staying at home in quarantine, then you can try to dry your hair naturally even with natural air or sit under sunlight, which is also good for health and hair. Try some easy steps to dry out your hair fast without hair dryer-

            • Condition your hair – Conditioner not only promotes healthy hair, but also helps repel water.
            • Remove water before getting out of the shower.
            • Shake your hair out.
            • Blot your hair with a towel Or Wrap your hair in a towel turban.
            • Comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb Or Use a microfiber brush.
            • Let your hair finish air drying Or Sit in the sun.
